Welcome to Nashville Commercial Real Estate News

Hi, This is David Huddleston. I am a real estate broker and consultant and have advised on the sale or purchase of over 2,400 acres of land and 9 million SF of office, retail and industrial buildings. I have closed over 200 sales, supervised the development of commercial land tracts for clients, and have been hired as an expert witness to represent clients in three lawsuits. I was previously with Grubb & Ellis, where I was recognized as one of the top brokers nationwide. I have been in the business since 1985 and most of my business is from referrals. Before I got into the commercial real estate business I was a city planner and I have found that background to be helpful in understanding growth and in getting land approved for development.

I stopped writing a newsletter in May 2007 when deals were happening that seemed absolutely crazy and in hindsight definitely were. The recession officially started in December 2007, the stock market started a big drop in September 2008 (Lehman filed Chapter 11 on September 15, 2008), the Dow hit bottom on March 9, 2009 at 6,440, and we all suffered through the recession. I am fortunate to have another business and for 3 years I focused on that.

The Nashville area usually goes into a recession later than the nation and comes out a little faster. Like most cities, some parts of Nashville are deteriorating and other parts are growing. I have done this for so long that I can mentally see the streetscape and discuss every area and every major street in Nashville, Rutherford and Williamson counties. I have sold 46 shopping centers, 22 office and office/warehouse properties and 4 bulk warehouses. My ACT database contains over 10,000 contacts all over the U.S.
